Yirrip is a eucalypt which grows from 10 to 30 metres with rough, dark red to black bark and grey-green leaves. Its flowers are cream, which bloom from May to February.

It grows in well drained soil in full sun to semi shade, typically being found in hilly, drier forest ecosystems.
