Murr

Prickly Coprosma

Coprosma quadrifida

Murr is a bush which grows from 2 to 4 metres tall with green leaves and spines. It flowers from September to January with small green flowers, after which, from January to March, it bears small red berries.

It was used by the Wurundjeri-woiwurrung for its fruits, which are sweet when ripe. These fruits were also eaten to treat diarrhoea.

It prefers to grow in moist well drained soil from full sun to semi shade and grows well with ferns.
