Hop Goodenia is a small to medium sized shrub that grows from 1 to 2.5 metres tall. It has green, slightly serrated leaves and yellow flowers from September to February.

It is possible that the Wurundjeri-woiwurrung used this plant as a sedative.

It grows in damp soil, even growing through periods of waterlogging. It grows in full sun to full shade.
