Burgan is a shrub which grows from 2 to 5 metres tall with narrow dark-green leaves and bunches of small white flowers close to its branches. It flowers from November to January.

Larger individuals were used by the Wurundjeri-woiwurrung for their wood which would be turned into boomerangs and spears.

It grows in a wide range of soil types in places with full sun to semi shade.
